EU Strategy on Solar Energy
In spring 2022, ESMC welcomed the forthcoming EU strategy for solar energy as the framework for building long-term competitiveness and critical mass of PV manufacturing capacities in Europe.
EU Solar Strategy
Promoting the development of manufacturing capacities for sustainable PV products in Europe requires implementation of support policies, without slowing down market development.
Following the EU industrial strategy, ESMC have requested a Solar Strategy in which the significance of PV manufacturing will be addressed. During 2021 and 2022, ESMC have provided input to the European Commission in the forming of the EU Strategy on Solar Energy.
Ahead of the formation of the European Commission for the 2024–2029 mandate the ESMC reached out to the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen to position the EU PV manufacturing among the priorities for the new mandate of the European Commission. The ESMC appeal consists of five concrete policy actions with the potential to make an immediate difference for the European solar PV manufacturing.

Make European solar manufacturing a priority for the new EU mandate
ESMC is requesting to position the European solar PV manufacturing industry as one of the priorities during the institutional formation procedures of the European Commission. The already existing quantitative targets for the EU PV manufacturing should be defined to deliver appropriate investments in reshoring PV manufacturing capacities in the EU.
