In Spring 2022, ESMC embraced the EU’s Solar Energy Strategy, which included the formation of the EU Solar PV Industry Alliance (ESIA), with ESMC being an active member of its steering committee.
EU Solar PV Industry Alliance
The EU Solar PV Industry Alliance (ESIA) is a collaborative initiative from the European Union. It is dedicated to advancing the solar industry in the EU. ESIA brings together key stakeholders, including ESMC, to promote solar energy adoption, drive innovation, and address industry challenges. By fostering cooperation and knowledge sharing, ESIA aims to accelerate the growth of solar photovoltaic technology across Europe, contributing to sustainable energy solutions and the EU’s climate goals. ESIA’s main target is 30GW of PV manufacturing capacity along the full value chain in Europe by 2025.
ESMC plays a vital role as part of the steering committee in shaping and guiding the alliance’s efforts towards a cleaner and more sustainable energy future. ESMC also leads as Sherpa of the Working Group focused on the Supply Chain.
The Alliance will work to identify and coordinate investment opportunities, project pipelines and technology portfolios and establish pathways for the solar industrial ecosystem in Europe.

Framework proposals for the EU Solar PV Industry Alliance
ESMC emphasises that the actions being explored and implemented in ESIA should swiftly promote the establishment of European PV manufacturing capabilities across the entire value chain and throughout the EU.
To kickstart the Alliance effectively, ESMC is suggesting some fundamental principles and immediate issues that need attention.
