In the context of our collaboration with and support of EUREC (The Association of European Renewable Energy Research Centres) we want to highlight a newly released report: 5% of new capacity from “Innovative” Renewable Energy: A necessary and do-able enhancement to the Renewable Energy Directive.
In a consortium of several renewable energy organizations, ESMC has been involved in the work towards the European Commission to call for faster market uptake of renewable sources and next-generation RES technologies through #REDIII and the Innovation fund.
The new report demonstrates that it is right to attend to innovative technology as part of the intensifying push towards renewables, that the 5% innovation target is well formulated and implementable by building on approaches already used in some Member States. It also highlights the PV IPCEI as an example of measures to support innovative renewables.
